Reflections

Altogether, to me the Qualifier didn't go to bad. Even though our robot performance wasn't the greatest with our current design, not many things actually went wrong. A couple issues in programing came to light; But not many issues with the robot other than the simply design of the ring delivery mechanism. Everyone felt like the presentation went well; So overall it was fun and we learned where we need to go from here. -Jared

Judging:

After winding our way through the labarynthine corridors of the ridiculously massive facility, we arrived at the fabled Hall of Judgment. Entering the grand and glorious cube of a room, we prersented our achievments for perusal. Though we suffered many crippling setbacks, our final objective was achieved with all possible haste. After completing the herculean tasks of the Grand Arbiters, we subknitted to their glorious Inquisition. After a full score of minutes, we emerged victorious, ensuring our final success. -Harrison

Tournament rounds:

We had a rough start to our day; in the first three rounds, our robot didn't even score. Throughout the day, we became increasingly better, but we played defense during the tournament rounds.
  1. The first round, Louis, our lift latch, dropped the lift unexpectedly. During testing, this was never a big issue. We resolved this by rotating the mount of the servo.
  2. In this round, I accidentally changed an integral part of the driving code while trying to fix the previous servo problem, so we didn't move the entire round.
  3. I'm pretty sure we scored points this round, but penalties on behalf of our alliance partner cancelled those out.
  4. This was the first round that ran as expected. We didn't score many points, but at least our robot functioned as it was intended.
  5. This time, I believe our carriage chain didn't expand as it was supposed to. Thus we couldn't score any points and resorted to playing defense.
  6. We finally won by a large margin here due to scoring 85 points for a robot lift, which was quite impressive.
  7. Not too sure why we barely scraped by.
  8. The last of the qualifying rounds was a tremendous win. We were paired with the other fantastic robot at this tournament. They had a functioning autonomous program that could land them major points if the beacon was placed in the center position.

Team 5886 picked us, and as we didn't need to advance to the Georgia Championship, we accepted their offer. The scores of the qualifying rounds were predictably high. The shutout was due to our robot playing defense.

Tournament Results:

We won the Connect award, third place Inspire award and Winning Aliiance award. The connect award is given to the team who connects with their community as well as the engineering community, the winning alliance award simply means our alliance won in the finals, and the Insipre award is awarded to the team who excels in all areas of the competition; performance, engineering notebook, community outreach and robot design. As well as winning these three awards, we were nominated for all but one of the judged awards. ~Niah

We passed Hardware Inspection without any problems. We successfully fit into the box, from which we derived great joy. We didn't have an additional copy of our Bill O' Materials, however, so we had to use our Engineering Notebook copy. -Jacob
